Committed to Community Policing

San Francisco Patrol Special Officers strive to make the communities they serve better places in which to live and work. Officers are committed to community policing with an emphasis on problem solving and community outreach: walking their "beats" and getting to know people on an individual basis, attending community meetings and working closely with the police department and other city agencies to find resolutions to everyday neighborhood concerns.

Community policing is a philosophy, not a tactic.

It is a proactive, decentralized approach to policing, designed to reduce crime, disorder, and the fear of crime while responding to explicit needs and demands of the community. This is the mission of Patrol Specials in serving their beat community.
